Our Recent English Ceilidh Adventures
When you’re a ceilidh band based in Scotland, it’s not uncommon to find yourself crossing the border into England (or Wales!) for some extraordinary ceilidh occasions. And that’s exactly what we’ve done over the last few weeks, spreading our infectious brand of ceilidh to audiences who’ve rarely, if ever, experienced it before. Here at It's No' Reel, we've had the pleasure of performing at three beautiful English weddings recently - Kay & Tom's at Wyresdale Park, Lancashire, Holly & Robbie's at The Old Mill, Aldermaston in Berkshire, and Eleanor & Craig's at The Cow Shed, Cheshire.
Let's dive in and share some of the joyous moments we were able to capture!
Wyresdale Park: The Perfect English Backdrop
As we wound our way through the lush Lancashire landscape, we could tell we were in for something special. Kay and Tom’s wedding at Wyresdale Park was as picturesque as you can imagine - a blend of rustic charm and elegance nestled in the English countryside.
Having a half-English, half-Scottish guest list made this wedding particularly unique. Many of the English attendees had never participated in a ceilidh before. But, with our energetic tunes, clear instructions, and encouraging words, we soon had every guest on their feet and dancing!
The Old Mill, Aldermaston: A Fairytale Setting
Next, we headed to Berkshire for Holly and Robbie's wedding at The Old Mill, Aldermaston. With its charming mill stream and idyllic garden setting, it was the perfect backdrop for a truly memorable ceilidh.
Much like our previous wedding, we found ourselves playing to an audience with little to no experience of ceilidh. But as we’ve often found, the spirit of ceilidh is infectious - it didn’t take long for everyone to embrace the fun! Holly and Robbie's guests were soon swirling and twirling with the best of them. We loved playing outside, too - it was such a beautiful day!
The Cow Shed, Cheshire: Rustic and Magical
Finally, we headed to Cheshire for Eleanor and Craig's wedding at The Cow Shed. A beautiful rustic barn, it offered the perfect setting for the lively and fun ceilidh that was to follow (we'd played during the reception, too, earlier that day).
Eleanor and Craig had a mix of Scottish and English family and friends. In no time, the barn was filled with laughter, happiness, and everyone enthusiastically grooving to the dances.
At It's No' Reel Ceilidh Band, our passion is to bring people together through the power of music and dance. Our recent ceilidh adventures in England have been a testament to that. We've loved seeing the joy and camaraderie as we've introduced new audiences to this cherished Scottish tradition.
Even if you've never danced a jig in your life, we're here to guide you every step of the way. As these recent weddings have shown, all it takes is a little enthusiasm, and before you know it, you'll be dancing like a true Scot!
We'd like to extend a huge thank you to Kay & Tom, Holly & Robbie, and Eleanor & Craig for inviting us to be a part of their special day. It's been an honour to share in their joy and make unforgettable memories.
